FAQs for the Albuquerque wedding show in January

What time should I get there? There’s really no advantage to arriving before the gates open at noon. Fashion shows are at 2 and 4 p.m. Vendors give away samples all afternoon, and some prize winners aren’t announced until after 4:30 p.m. The Expo is an all-afternoon, come-and-go event until 5 p.m. You can even leave for a late lunch elsewhere at the resort and return to the Expo, as long as you keep your ticket stub. Isleta Resort & Casino is at 11000 Broadway SE, Exit 215 off of Interstate 25.

How much is it to get in?  Brides get a discounted $6 ticket when you register online. Now, with that you get a free e-book with discounts from local wedding professionals, plus a year's subscription to Brides magazine ($12 annual subscription price), plus get entered into drawings for prizes. You can also register at the show, but the process sometimes involves waiting in line. All others can buy discounted e-tickets online too. Tickets at the door are $10. Children under 12 get in free. Strollers are not allowed at the Expo, but can be checked with Isleta Hotel personnel.

Do groom's pay? Yep, but check out “Is there anything for my fiancé to do …” below.

How many freebies are there? Most vendors give away promotional items. And they encourage you to register for prize drawings. So instead of having one chance to win one big prize, you've got dozens of chances to win both during and after the show. Some prizes are awarded only to those present at the show; other winners are contacted later.

Organizational tip: Bring preprinted cards or labels. There are so many things to register for, you’ll save time by supplying a card instead of filling out another form. Remind those accompanying you to consider cards, too, since there are prizes for non-brides, too

What about exhibitors contacting me after the show? We do share your contact information with our Expo vendors. Some choose to follow up with you; most don’t. You’ll likely receive a couple of phone calls and/or emails. And you can opt out at any time after the initial contact. If you registered for the show, but for whatever reason were not able to attend, you’ll still be able to catch up up on some offers you might have otherwise missed. Some vendors even send out information you might find helpful, regardless of whether you use their goods or services.

How do we get there? Isleta Resort & Casino, formerly Hard Rock Hotel Albuquerque, is located just off I-25, 7 minutes south of downtown Albuquerque. Take Exit 215 for NM-47 S. Merge onto NM-47 S / Broadway Blvd. SE and turn south. Hard Rock is less than 1 mile on the north side of Broadway.

Isleta Resort & Casino's address: 11000 Broadway Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM / (505) 724-3800 / isleta.com

The Expo will be in the conference center of the Isleta Resort & Casino, on its southern end. This is the entrance for the hotel lobby, which is a separate entrance from the casino.

Plentiful free parking is available on the side of the hotel - the south side of the complex. There is also valet parking and handicapped parking available. You may also drive up to a covered drive through to drop people off. Isleta also has a shuttle to make it easy for you to get from place to place. If you need parking assistance or assistance getting into the building - and know of this need in advance - please email us and we’ll ensure you get the help you need.

Once you enter, you’ll come to the conference center to the left of the hotel lobby. There will be signs and people there to direct you to the Wedding Expo.

Is there anything else going on during the day? Isleta’s property includes a casino, several restaurants and bars, a spa, a golf course and a hotel. We'll have expert with tips for getting married, two fashion shows (at 2 and 4 p.m.), drawings, games, golf, tours, music and fun - oh, and then there's the Expo.

Who should I bring with me? Anyone who's helping you make decisions or whose opinion you value.

What are the times? Noon – 5 p.m. Sunday.

I have a disability. Are there any arrangements I can make so I can attend the Expo? Sure thing! We want everyone to be able to come and have fun! But in order to best serve you, requests for accommodations under the Americans With Disabilities Act must be made 14 days prior to the show date.

Is there anything for my fiancé to do while we're there? We do have quite a few guys who come to the show, just to be there and help make decisions about what they like and definitely don't like! So bring him along ... Did we mention the casino and golf course on property?

How should I dress? Casual to dressy casual is the norm. Comfortable shoes are a good idea since you’ll be on your feet much of the time.

Are kids allowed? Some folks like to bring the entire family. If you value the kids’ opinions, bring them. If not, both the adults and kids might enjoy separate activities for the afternoon. Strollers are not allowed in the Expo, but can be checked with hotel personnel.

What about same-sex couples? The Expos do not discriminate. We only ask each couple to designate a “bride,” or decision maker for registration and contact purposes. But come on! We want you there to celebrate and have fun!

What experts are going to be there? Looking for a wedding photographer? Maybe a groom's cake? Then check out the list and see which bridal businesses are going to be at the Expo so you can do your shopping in one afternoon. Why run all over town to see these bridal businesses? They'll be right here.
